Watchdog, version 2.0

Your Watchdog just got better.

Takes about 2 minutes. Same popup, same protection, just a quick swap under the hood.

New in this version: dialer protection

Watchdog now also warns you inside HubSpot's pop out dialer, right while you're typing a number, not just on the contact page. One more layer of protection, no extra steps for you.

1

Remove the old version

Go to chrome://extensions, find Watchdog Scanner, and click Remove.

2

Unzip the attached file

The file you were sent is a .zip. Unzip it first, then look inside for the folder named exactly beagle-watchdog. That's the one you'll select in the next step, not the outer folder.

Windows

Right click the .zip file and choose Extract All. Open the folder that appears, then open it again to find beagle-watchdog inside.

Mac

Just double click the .zip file. Look inside the folder that appears for beagle-watchdog.

3

Load the new one

Back in chrome://extensions, you'll need two things, on opposite sides of the page:

Top right: turn on Developer mode.
Top left: a new Load unpacked button will appear. Click it and select the beagle-watchdog folder from step 2.

Confirm it's active, and it's version 2.0

You should see Watchdog Scanner in your extensions list, turned on. Each extension card shows its version number, make sure it says 2.0, not 1.0 or 1.1.

Pin it (recommended)

Click the puzzle piece icon in your browser toolbar (top right of Chrome) to find and pin Watchdog, so it's always one click away. Not required, but it makes both everyday use and Snapshot Reports (below) a lot easier.

Watchdog Scanner

Click the puzzle piece and this dropdown opens, listing every installed extension. Find Watchdog Scanner, then click the pin icon next to it — the orange circle above shows exactly where to click. This part of the guide is a stylized illustration, not a screenshot: the real dropdown looks a little different, but the pin icon sits in the same spot next to the name.

Watchdog icon

Once pinned, the Watchdog icon sits to the left of the puzzle piece (which shows every installed extension) in your toolbar, just like this.

Pinning it isn't just for looks. With the icon visible, you can click it any time to file a Snapshot Report the moment you spot a page that should have been flagged DNC but wasn't. That one click is what feeds the dashboard's Trends tab and helps us catch and fix gaps fast, so please make a habit of it.

One important thing

Close every HubSpot tab you currently have open before you start, then reopen HubSpot after installing. Tabs left open during the switch won't be protected until they're refreshed.

If something looks off

Ctrl + Shift + R

Windows. Hard refreshes the page, clears out anything stuck from before the update.

Cmd + Shift + R

Mac. Same fix, same result. Try this first before messaging anyone.

Reload

Icon, colors, or anything else still looks off? Go to chrome://extensions, find the Watchdog Scanner card, and click the Reload icon shown here. That reloads just the extension, without needing to touch HubSpot at all.
